Nestled in the historic fishing village of Kingsdown, Kingsdown Angling Club has been at the heart of our coastal community since 1948. Formed by local residents—many returning heroes from World War II—the club has always stood as a symbol of camaraderie, resilience, and love for the sea. From its early days at The Victory public house, through years at The Zetland Arms and The Kings Head, to our current home at The Rising Sun, our story is woven into the very fabric of Kingsdown.
Today, our volunteer-run club continues that proud tradition. Based in the Dover District Council boat compound on Kingsdown Beach, we maintain a welcoming space for sea anglers of all ages and abilities. Our site includes a dedicated club hut, two club winches, and wash-down facilities to support safe, responsible boating and fishing. Members can store vessels up to 16ft or bring trailered boats for launch via the council-managed ramp.
Throughout the year, we host friendly competitions, social events, and opportunities for anglers to develop their skills while promoting sustainable sea fishing. Every activity, every improvement, and every service we provide is made possible by the passion and hard work of our volunteers.
But we can’t do it alone.
Your donation—no matter the size—helps us maintain essential facilities, support community events, preserve our local angling heritage, and keep the spirit of Kingsdown’s seafaring history alive for generations to come.
If you believe in community, tradition, and protecting local coastal culture, please consider supporting Kingsdown Angling Club today.
Together, we can keep this proud legacy thriving. 🎣💙
